Roxanne Willis earned an A.B., summa cum laude, in Anthropology from Harvard University; received a Ph.D. in American Studies from Yale University; and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard University Center for the Environment. In addition to her higher education experience in the social sciences and humanities, Roxanne has worked in public relations and for nonprofits, and she is familiar with the different voices and vocabularies that authors need to communicate effectively with their respective audiences.

Roxanne is an award-winning author, having researched and written Alaska’s Place in the West, published by the University Press of Kansas, as well as numerous articles, book reviews, encyclopedia entries, and blog posts. She will work with you at every stage of the writing process: brainstorming the big ideas; organizing material to improve your argument or story; editing for length, style, and clarity; and preparing the details of your manuscript during the copyediting phase. Feel free to contact her with questions large or small, even if you are not sure you want to take on a writing consultant or editor full time. Roxanne has written and edited numerous academic manuscripts (scholarly papers, dissertations, and books), as well as memoirs, short fiction pieces, blog posts, book proposals, web content, and white papers. She is especially adept at translating technical jargon into clear prose, which will attract a wider readership for your writing. Roxanne lives and works near Chicago, Illinois.
